Established in 1965 and for 3 generations HMBYC have provided for a wide variety of boating and water based activities including motor boating, sailing, kayaking, angling & dangling, water skiing, surfing and even scuba diving - The beach-launched traditions of Hastings and its unique commercial fleet are kept alive within the club's inimitable spirit.
Hastings Motor Boat & Yacht is a not for profit organisation that is run by the members, for the members.
We are a small friendly, boating club nestled at the eastern end of Hastings Old Town with neighbours such as the 'Shipwreck Museum', Fishing net sheds, Winkle Island, and the 'Fishing Museum' and we provide dry berthing, launching access and beach recovery facilities for boats and kayaks to our membership.
Our club was formed in 1965 by a group of likeminded individuals with an overall strategy to facilitate access to sea-going pursuits at affordable prices.
The location at Rock-a-nore was chosen and agreed with the local authority in the hope at some point a marina would be developed. Our club started with a caravan as a clubhouse and a very small parcel of land at the most eastern point of rock-a-nore and grew over the years as land to the west became available. Our neighbours and previous land users have been varied such as an ice making factory that served the town largest beached fishing fleet, a mortuary, multiple well known local boat builders, A military drill hall, a refuse burning plant providing energy for the town, a police dog compound, a stables and slightly west of our location, the current and previous boat house for the RNLI.
